Product of the Year Award win for Scandium in the UK

2010-03-29 Amica’s 1133.4TdYX Scandium built-in multi-function oven has won a UK accolade. The built-in multifunction oven has been voted a winner of its category in the Get Connected Product of the Year Awards 2010.

Now in its fifth year, the Get Connected Product of the Year Awards, hosted by Get Connected - the magazine of the UK electrical goods industry, read by independent retailers - is established in acknowledging the excellence of specific electrical products and product ranges in the UK.

Considering the best in design, function, quality and value, products were initially selected for nomination by a panel of 12 well-informed professionals made up of electrical retailers, writers and industry commentators.

The selections included both new and established products - available on the UK market during 2009 - pitching fresh, innovative products and technologies alongside those which have already proven their worth in the industry.

The Scandium oven, launched in the UK in October 2009, was selected as one of the final 17 candidates in the cooking category, and Amica’s Elegance refrigeration range also made it into the nominations as a contender for a refrigeration title.

The vote was then thrown open to the readers, who responded in their thousands to elect their favourite products. Using a points system made up of an aggregate of those from the panel and readers’ votes, Scandium reached and exceeded the required standards – standards in style, function, quality and value - which have earned the oven the title, Get Connected Product of the Year 2010. 

An extract from the panel’s citation reads: “Amica has been establishing a presence and a reputation in the UK market over the past year, and this product represents a degree of technological development, design and quality that is outstanding value for money in this competitive sector. It gives retailers something to sell, demonstrate and explain, and continues a trend of growing support for the brand among UK retailers.”

More than 80% of Get Connected readers recognise the magazine as the best and most informative trade journal, with a good mix of news and views along with highly relevant features.
